This directory combines County, state, federal and selected municipality-source records with a grouped inventory from Chester County GIS. The County GIS description covers fee-owned municipal recreation parcels, including trails, currently open to the public. Its March 7, 2025 data snapshot contains 233 polygon features grouped here into 213 facility-name and municipality listings across 64 municipalities; same-name parcel rows are grouped, and one repeated parcel row is counted once. The County separately reported about 220 municipal parks across 73 municipalities in its 2024 budget. The GIS layer is a broad public-recreation inventory, but it is not a complete current list of every park, easement, nonprofit or state and federal site; absence of a municipality or place from this snapshot does not mean it lacks public recreation.

Struble Trail
A 2.6-mile open paved route along the East Branch Brandywine Creek on the former New Holland rail bed, with a one-mile section described by the County as ADA accessible.
Chester Valley Trail — Chester County section
The paved regional route has 13.5 miles open in Chester County and 5.1 miles in Montgomery County; the County describes a western extension into Downingtown as under construction.
Marsh Creek State Park
A north-central Chester County state park centered on Marsh Creek Lake, with hiking, horseback riding, boating and other recreation across separate east and west visitor areas.

Valley Forge National Historical Park
A National Park Service landscape commemorating the Continental Army's 1777–1778 encampment. The park spans portions of Chester and Montgomery counties, with part of its landscape in Tredyffrin and Schuylkill townships.
NPS gives this point for the Wilson Road parking lot serving the Mount Misery trailhead and P.C. Knox Estate. The NPS Cultural Landscapes Inventory locates the Valley Forge Farms component, including the Philander Knox Estate, in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County. This is a visitor access point, not a park-boundary centroid.
Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site
A National Park Service site preserving an iron-making village and landscape. Chester County includes part of the site's regional footprint; the current public visitor entrance is in the Elverson area.
